As much as I like 28mm and in particular 35mm if I had to choose a single focal length, 50mm would be what I’d choose. The 50mm focal length is always the real deal.

Paralysis analysis
Digging around the internet for ideas on limiting the gear you have and own, I came across this definition that appears to suit my current thinking to a tee. Paralysis analysis is defined as where overthinking a situation can cause forward motion or decision-making to become paralysed, meaning that no solution or course of action … Continue reading Paralysis analysis

Craving Simplicity
Sometimes it all gets a bit too much and at the moment my seemingly endless quest to find the right camera gear has been giving me a rather painful bout of sensory overload. I’ll be honest, it’s even starting to piss me off. I have two very different systems I use for the majority of … Continue reading Craving Simplicity
All in on Leica?
A little while ago I wrote a blog post about the compromises I make shooting with the Leica M10-P. At the time I have to say I was struggling to justify quite a bit about it for my needs. The quality of the images I could make with it were never in doubt, but it … Continue reading All in on Leica?
Happy Anniversary ‘Cron
It’s exactly a year since I pushed the button and was lucky enough to buy myself a Leica Summicron 35mm f2 ASPH. When I bought my Leica M10-P a couple of years ago or so, I promised myself I would one day own a Leica Summicron 35mm ASPH. It’s one of those lenses that through … Continue reading Happy Anniversary ‘Cron
Starting to Feel The Black and White Pull
I've been shooting and editing to black and white almost exclusively since before Christmas and since the beginning of the New Year I've been shooting with a monochrome view through the live view of my camera. I convert those images to a black and white preset when importing the files in to Lightroom, in order … Continue reading Starting to Feel The Black and White Pull

Boxing Day
A quick Boxing Day wander to blow the cobwebs away! Conditions in the UK over the past couple of days have been wonderful (as far as us woodland photographers go), with plenty of low cloud and mist around. It's lovely to get out in such conditions and stay away from the madding crowds as well!

Compromise – At what cost?
After a little over two years of owning my Leica M10-P, the thought process is do I need (well I want) to move it on. It's a beautiful camera, I enjoy using it and the images it produces are wonderful, but for the 90% of what I shoot (or want to shoot), it's a compromise. … Continue reading Compromise – At what cost?

Two Years in.
Celebrating two years of Leica M10-P ownership today. It’s been a pleasure to use, not always practical and for sure doesn’t suit all sorts of photography - but the results never fail to impress and it’s always such fun to shoot with.
Film in Scotland
Having a few days away in Scotland I couldn't resist taking my film gear and a couple of rolls of film along for the ride with my digital cameras I had on hand. Here's a few random images from a great few days - if you've never been put it on the bucket list, the … Continue reading Film in Scotland

A year with the Leica M10-P
Happy anniversary to me and my Leica M10-P. It’s been a whole 12 months since I bought the M10-P from London Camera Exchange in Leamington Spa and was the culmination of many months looking and reading about Leica digital cameras. As I come to the 1st year anniversary of my Leica camera ownership, I feel … Continue reading A year with the Leica M10-P

Leica for Landscape
A few photos from the past weekend, shooting with just the Leica M10-P & Summicron 40mm f2. It's a great camera for casual landscape and outdoor photography, the ease of use making it the perfect companion. I love the little Leica Summicron 40mm f2 as well, it's a small, compact lens that punches well above … Continue reading Leica for Landscape

Jeez Camera Gear Buying is such a Waste.
Looking back through the memories that pop up on my Facebook timeline from time to time I came across a photo I had taken back in 2017 with some new gear I’d just bought. The first thing I noticed was what a great photograph it was. It was a simple portrait photo of my Wife … Continue reading Jeez Camera Gear Buying is such a Waste.
Loading a Leica M6
Before buying my Leica M6 I read quite a variety of forum posts/blog posts etc with regards to loading film. It appeared that many people struggle with loading even with the quick load system the M6 has. Since owning mine I’ve had good and bad experience of loading film but on the whole it’s not … Continue reading Loading a Leica M6
A Growing Love Affair
I had been looking on rather longingly at Leica M6's for quite a while now wondering if all the fuss and attention they garnered was really worth all the thousands of words that have been written about them over the years. Having had the Leica M6 for a couple of months now and shot a … Continue reading A Growing Love Affair
